Technical Support

Q: Can I use MasterCard SecureCode from any computer?

A: One of the great advantages of MasterCard SecureCode is that it works with just about any device with an Internet connection. There's no special software to install. However, you should disable any software that prevents pop-up windows as this will interfere with your use of MasterCard SecureCode.

Q: What are the system requirements for MasterCard SecureCode?

A: MasterCard SecureCode requires the use of Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 and above, Netscape Navigator 4.0 and above, or America Online 4.0 and above.

Q: What is 128-bit encryption?

A: 128-bit Encryption refers to the level of which transmitted data is encoded, providing highly secure data transmission over the Internet. This level of encryption is only available for United States based web browsers. Other countries may be limited to 56 bit, which may prevent use of our web sites.

Q: How do I know if my browser supports 128-bit encryption?

A: If using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, click on the Help menu, and select About. This will display your current version and browser encryption level (i.e. 128 bit or 40 bit).

Q: If my browser does not support 128-bit encryption, where can I download it from?

A: For Internet Explorer, visit www.microsoft.com and for Netscape visit www.netscape.com. If using a browser other than either mentioned, please contact your Internet Service Provider's homepage.

Q: How does my browser indicate if a page is secure?

A: In Internet Explorer, there will be a golden padlock that will appear locked while visiting a secure site. In Netscape, there will be a golden key in the status bar. In addition, instead of seeing http in the address bar, you will see https.

Q: Does MasterCard SecureCode support Macintosh users?

A: Yes. Macintosh Operation System (OS) version 9 and X (ten) are supported, but there may be compatibility issues with earlier Mac OSs.

Q: How can I fix compatibility issues for Macintosh operating system versions earlier than OS 9?

A: NetScape installation solves this for the most common lower OS versions, since MasterCard SecureCode supports NetScape version 4.0 and higher.
